Grana Padano is the most consumed PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) food product in all the world. More than French cheese, Iberian ham and Greek Feta. Stefano Berni, the general manager of the consortium of Grana Padano, says about 10 million euro is spent to raise awareness of the brand in Europe and North America and the successes are obvious: in 2012 over 4.5 million wheels (each weighing 80 pounds) were sold, with ⅓ purchased abroad, especially in Germany, Russia, Canada and the US.
