Buy Badevisco Olive Oil

The Badevisco estate is situated on the hillside of the extinct volcano, Roccomonfina, and stretches to the coast.  Near the Massico mountains and the Garigliano river in the territory of Sessa Aurunca.  The ancient capital town of Aurunci dates back to 8th C BC.  When the city was at its heyday, during the Roman and Imperial eras, it flourished as a miraculously fertile area. The poet Virgil in the Georgics praised it: “which vapoury mist and fitting smoke exhales, drinks moisture up and casts it forth at will, which, ever in its own green grass arrayed, mars not the metal with salt scurf of rust….. that teems with olives”.  The native olive varieties are still being grown in this area of the Caserta province – Idrana, Sessana (or Cecinella) and Frantoiana.

Badevisco, using the cold-extraction process yields an ancient flavored extra virgin olive oil, unique in its fragrance and aroma which are inexorably connected to this geographical region. It is a product born from the combination of the volcanic soil, mild climate and the articulated morphology of the territory. Today Badevisco is strictly organic (biological).  The oil is green-hued yellow and the scent is intensely fruity hinting at herbs, fragranced with tomato, almonds and artichokes.  These scents are also found in the taste which is well balanced between bitter (emphasis on the bitter again in 2020 — this is a good thing) and peppery. The oil, so rich and intense in flavor, it will enhance the taste of many foods.  It is excellent uncooked on vegetables, bean soups, focaccia, bruschetta, fish and salads.

The awards continue to pile up; for many years Badevisco has been awarded a Gold Medal from The BIOL PRIZE which is a competition dedicated to the best extra virgin organic olive oils from around the world.
