The annual meeting of the members of the Consorzio Produttori di Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena, the governing body which oversees the production of and sets the quality standards by which all traditional balsamics are measured, has confirmed the Board:  Enrico Corsini (President) Vincenzo Ferrari Amorotti, Erika Barbieri, Leonardo Giacobazzi, Cesare Mazzetti, Carlo Piccinini, Ettore Agazzotti, Mirco Casari, Joseph Pedroni.

The meeting was held in the assembly hall of the Palatipico at Viale Virgilio in Modena. The Assembly also unanimously approved the budget for the year 2012. President Enrico Corsini, opening the meeting, acknowledged the 2012 as a horrible year for Emilia; in addition to the economic crisis, he said, we greatly suffered greatly from the earthquake of May, damaging many manufacturing companies.

Corsini then recalled the numerous consortium activities, especially for the promotion of the product to consumers nationally and internationally, thanks to the collaboration established with PalaTipico Ltd. which has just launched umbrella brand ‘Piacere Modena’,  and Aicig, the Association of the major Italian DOP / IGP Consorzio.  Corsini went on to point out the absolute necessity to fight strongly, at all levels, the growing issue of imitation of the DOP, particularly the terms used with the clear intention to compete unfairly with the protected product.

Nevertheless, the production volumes and financial results the Consortium showed encouraged Corsini to  call the past year a “satisfactory improvement.”
